Wednesday: Dream World

The Day She Woke Up on a Mysterious Island

One sunny morning in her dream, a lovely lady named Mia woke up on a beautiful tropical island with absolutely no idea how she had gotten there. She was lying on warm white sand with the sound of waves gently crashing nearby, while tall palm trees moved in the breeze. At first, Mia thought she had simply booked the most relaxing vacation imaginable, but then she noticed something important: there was no hotel, no boat, no phone signal, and not a single person anywhere in sight. She checked her pockets and found nothing except a tiny piece of candy that had somehow survived the mysterious journey.

Mia stood up and looked toward the ocean, hoping to see a boat approaching. Unfortunately, the only things moving were a few seagulls and some coconuts falling from the trees. She started worrying that she might actually be stuck on the island. She tried shouting for help, but the only response was the sound of waves and birds. Feeling hungry, she decided to search for food. She walked toward a group of trees and noticed a large green parrot watching her very carefully from a branch.

“Are you lost?” the parrot suddenly asked.

Mia froze in place. She slowly looked around to see if another person was hiding nearby. When she realized the parrot had actually spoken, she stared at it with her mouth open. The parrot tilted its head and sighed as if Mia were the one behaving strangely. “Well?” it asked. “Are you going to answer, or are you planning to stand there all day looking surprised?” Mia couldn’t believe what she was hearing, but before she could respond, another voice came from behind a bush.

“Don’t scare her, Charlie. Humans aren’t used to talking animals.”

Mia turned around and discovered a large turtle slowly crawling toward her. At that moment, she realized that this was not an ordinary island at all.

The Animals Have a Lot to Say

Mia soon discovered that almost every animal on the island could talk. The parrot, Charlie, considered himself the leader of the island and spent most of his time giving everyone unnecessary advice. The turtle, whose name was Harold, was much calmer and claimed that he had been living on the island for more than one hundred years. There were also monkeys who loved playing tricks, a goat who complained about everything, and a very serious-looking crab who apparently believed he was responsible for island security.

Instead of being afraid, Mia slowly became fascinated by her strange new friends. The animals explained that humans rarely visited their island, so they were extremely curious about her. Unfortunately, they were also extremely nosy. The monkeys wanted to know why she wore shoes, the goat wanted to know whether humans ate grass, and the parrot kept asking whether Mia could teach him how to use a smartphone.

Mia eventually admitted that she was hungry, and the animals immediately organized a feast. The monkeys brought bananas, the parrots collected berries, and the turtle proudly presented some leaves that he insisted were a special island delicacy. Mia politely tasted one and immediately understood why nobody else had touched it. The turtle looked disappointed when she reached for a banana instead.

The Island Wasn’t So Bad After All

As the sun began to set, Mia started to realize that being stuck on the island might not be as terrible as she had first imagined. The animals were funny, friendly, and surprisingly helpful. They showed her a beautiful waterfall, took her to a hidden beach, and even built a small shelter for her using palm leaves. The monkeys decorated it with flowers, although one of them accidentally dropped a coconut through the roof while trying to help.

That evening, Mia sat around a small fire with her new animal friends while they shared stories about life on the island. Charlie the parrot told the most dramatic stories, most of which Mia suspected were completely exaggerated. Harold the turtle occasionally corrected him, while the monkeys laughed at both of them. Mia found herself laughing so much that she almost forgot she was supposed to be stranded.

When morning arrived, Mia suddenly heard the sound of a boat approaching the island. A rescue boat had finally found her. She was excited to go home, but she also felt strangely sad about leaving her new friends. Charlie flew onto her shoulder and told her not to forget the island. Mia promised she would always remember them, especially the talking parrot who had spent the entire dream giving her advice.

Just as she stepped onto the boat, Mia suddenly woke up in her own bed. She looked around her room and smiled, realizing it had all been a dream. However, when she checked her pillow, she found a small green feather lying beside her. She stared at it for a moment before laughing. Maybe she really had visited the island, or maybe Charlie the parrot had simply decided to leave her a little souvenir.
